Your Guide to NZ Study Costs & Timings
A realistic budget for tuition fees in New Zealand is typically NZD $22,000 to $32,000+ per year for a Bachelor’s degree and NZD $25,000 to $45,000+ per year for a Master’s degree. These are averages, and every university sets its own price. We’ll work with you to find a high quality course that fits your budget.
New Zealand’s main academic year is different from the UK’s. There are two primary start dates, or intakes. The main intake is (February, which is when most courses are available. There is also a second major intake (July), which is a great option if you need more time to prepare.
This is the most important part of your budget. For your visa, you must first prove you have “maintenance funds” to cover your living costs. The government’s official figure is NZD $20,000 for a full year of study. You must also pay the visa application fee and, unlike the UK, you must buy approved medical and travel insurance.
